"It's a Wonderful Life" - A great and timeless classic film extremely popular, especially this Holiday time of the year, which was based on a short story called "The Greatest Gift". Jack McCarthy's favorite film was "It's a Wonderful Life", and that film epitomizes Jack's love of family, friends and his life contributions. Our Greatest Gift, Jack (John), passed away on January 7th. As we remember and celebrate Jack's life, we will all have a special place in our hearts for two classic treasures - Jack McCarthy and "It's a Wonderful Life".
This year was the first year in decades that he did not get the opportunity to watch his favorite film, and our family didn't gather at the McCarthy's on Christmas Eve. You can bet next year, we will be together both physically and spiritually.
Jack loved life, and he lived it to the fullest in his brief 49 years with us. His devotion to family and friends will never be forgotten, especially his love for Linda, his loving wife, and his precious daughter, Amanda, and - oh yeah - let's not forget their two Scotties, Mac and Maggie. Brother Dan and sisters Susan and Kathy can feel confident that "Jackie" (as his Mom called him) is now reunited in peace with both of their parents in Heaven.
Jack will be missed and remembered by all of us, but the wonderful memories will never leave us. Jack's love didn't end with his friends and family - oh no! Jack loved good food, good bookos, cigars, fine wine and sports - especially football. From his playing days at Washington Township High, his coaching football, the fighting Irish of Notre Dame and, of course, the Philadelphia EAGLES, Jack was the epitome of a true fan of the game. While there may be one less Eagles' fan in the Linc next year, you can bet he will be cheering from a higher level than Section 200!
"To us, Family means putting your arms around each other and being there."
Come with us to celebrate his life at his viewing Tuesday 8:15 - 10:15am at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am at the Church of the Holy Family, Washington Township. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin.
In lieu of flowers and mass cards, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Amanda M. McCarthy Trust Fund, c/o TD Bank, 306 Marter Ave., Moorestown, NJ 08057, Attention! Kristen Miller.
"A Life Well Lived Is Worth Remembering."
